Oil Paintings
I paint because it teaches my patience and courage, when I let it. I have engaged in many creative outlets in my life. Oil Painting is my current focus and has been since sometime in 2008. Below you will find a gallery of some of my paintings.
My Supplies
I primarily use Daniel Greene oil paints in all my work. I find them vastly superior to any other brand I’ve tried. They are somewhat on the pricey side, but well worth it. Also, as they should when quality is of the utmost concern, those paints range in price wildly depending on what color you want. I do have a few other colors I can’t get in Daniel Greene that I use sporadically, and I definitely shift over to Windsor and Newton for their massive tubes of white. I have no brand preference for brushes and I use all sizes in natural and synthetic hair. Sometimes a cheap and frayed brush is perfect, so I generally don’t throw any out. One of my favorite brushes for big pieces is actually an angled trim brush from Ace Hardware. I have found that I do not like painting on regular stretched canvas. I don’t like the give in the surface and I don’t like to tooth. For a while I painted on gessoed watercolor paper until I discovered that oil primed linen panels are a great surface to work on. Feel free to get in touch and talk more about paint with me, I am always happy to oblige.
