About Alicia’s Art Blog

Welcome and thank you for visiting my blog. I do not actively try to sell my work, but if you see something you really want get in touch and I will let you know if it’s available. Also, I am open to commissions of any flavor.

I am currently living in sunny North Carolina, but am from snowy Minnesota. Fine art has been a serious hobby of mine since around 2008. This blog helps me record my progress and share with my friends and family.

Usually my paintings are a combination of what I see around me and what I see in my imagination; sometimes just one or the other. I love painting in oil, but I’ve been really busy this past year so my recent work is in watercolor because it’s faster to use and clean up.

I paint because I love doing it. I don’t have any profound statements about my art nor do I particularly enjoy art that is primarily designed to make them. I care about technique, color and composition, but never superfluous language about it. If I have any goal beyond improvement for my own enjoyment, it is just to make people smile.

By day I work as a graphic designer and website developer. Outside of work and painting, I enjoy walking in the woods with my dog Phoenix, making delicious pizza with my husband Robert, watching good tv, reading good books and drinking good wine.
