Finished Painting: A glass of Cabernet
I am done with my first venture into painting clear glass. It was lots of fun and I definitely do not think this will be the last time I paint wine. Considering I’ve never painted glass, I think this was a fairly successful final result. I really like the colors.

$120 | Original | 5" x 7" | Oil on Linen Panel
I realized that I have been negligent at recording the sizes of the paintings I’ve been posting lately. This one is just 5×7. I purchased about twelve 5×7 linen panels and I’m burning through them before I evaluate what I want to do next.
It has been instrumental to my painting development that I acquired and learned to use a digital SLR camera last year. Otherwise I never would have gotten a photo like this to work from, both because I would have been lacking the equipment and the know-how. Plus, I really like to meet all my subjects personally…so being able to take good photos and sometimes manipulate them to get further ideas is important.
This is the photo that inspired the painting. As usual, my goal is never an identical replication. Photos are photos, and paintings should not aspire to be photos…
